We're not an ATV dealer....

Rob Moriarty - Tuesday, January 25, 2011

Whilst on a trawl through our website analytics data this month, I noticed that we get quite a few hits from people searching for "polaris dealers leeds".  This puzzled me a bit; what's 'polaris', and why are people looking at our website to get hold of one?  With a bit of investigation, I found out that Polaris is an ATV (all terrain vehicle) manufacturer, and because the name of our company is WSI Polaris Digital, we're coming up in searches by people who are interested in ATVs.   Read More...

Online Advertising Spend Just Keeps Rising

Rob Moriarty - Tuesday, December 07, 2010

In a new report, eMarketer forecasts that online advertising spend in the US will continue to rise over the next year, with an increasing upward trend as we approach 2014.  The report claims that the reason for this rise is that marketers are becoming more and more aware of the bottom line; it's being driven by increasing economic concerns. Read More...

25 Reasons Why I'll Leave Your Website in 10 Seconds

Noel Moriarty - Friday, December 03, 2010

eConsultancy have got a great article on the top 25 reasons why a user will 'bounce' straight away from your site.  They list a wide variety of factors, some obvious like popups and slow load times, and other less obvious like using a template design that doesn't fit your content properly.  It's amazing how many of them there are; and amazing how many websites break these basic rules.

If I was to pick the ones that annoyed me the most, they'd be: Read More...

Twitter Launching Official Analytics Package

Rob Moriarty - Thursday, November 18, 2010

Reports from around the web indicate that Twitter is about to roll out an analytics package.  The package, which features a wide variety of stats and report data, is currently in Beta testing and is due to launch before the end of the year.

As a service that runs very much around statistics - followers, replies, retweets - it's very surprising that Twitter hasn't come out with something similar already.  There are a huge number of third-party offerings (like TweetStats, TwitterCounter, TwitterAnalyzer etc.), that have been established for quite some time.  Twitter's advantage, though, is that they are the first-party.  They don't have to enter into agreements with anyone, and they know exactly what happens on their service because it's their service. Read More...
