Started out doing leading edge stuff in Computer Aided Production Planning, Factory Automation and MRP from the days before ERP and (Ed: 'Even electricity, some might add...') were barely a glimmer in the eye, doing application development and implementation, IT consultancy, project management and account development & sales before moving into business consulting around IT in Logistics & Supply Chain, general IT Management and the strategic use of IT during the Business Re-engineering era.
Was a Director in PwC Consulting and Associate Partner in IBM Global Business Services, spending 10 years in a range of consulting leadership roles - strategic product and business development of IT-based systems integration services around software and technology for Supply Chain business improvement. Also lectured in Consulting Services, and ‘IT for the Uninitiated’ from before the earliest days of tinterweb. Now described as an 'IT consultant who has absolutely nothing to do with wires and boxes' (Ed: 'Useless at reconfiguring routers') and everything to do with how you get your people to use the information in the system to do something sensible to improve the business. He runs our Consulting Services wing, to provide business related IT consulting in Supply Chain, CRM, E-Commerce and the internet.
Noel's consulting background brings to the WSI network a wealth of IT and industry knowledge for businesses. Unsurprisingly, his role in WSI Polaris Digital focuses around the business consulting end - Strategic Competitive Analysis. This is a unique approach to online marketing, where we offer business owners a wide-angle lens on their internet marketing, set in the context of their specific online competitors.
We identify strengths and weaknesses in the web 'presence' so that business owners have a more rounded view of how to make their online marketing strategy work more effectively, and deliver a return on investment - incorporating all of the important website, branding / reputation, search optimisation, advertising, social media into a workable strategy, and working out the budget to deliver results in an extremely competitive market. In 2011 Noel also became one of the first ambassadors on the WSI Voice of Digital Marketing programme.
Outside work, he is an occasionally adequate golfer (current handicap, sciatica), with an unhealthy interest in the Life and Times of Leeds United (well, at least one person has to be...). And, just in case you were wondering, it's the Olympic Stadium in Berlin..... No, he wasn't running.
